Mindfulness Anywhere: Mediating in the Generated Virtual World

With the development of the Mixed Reality (MR) industry in recent years and the increasing number of VR users, the demand for large-scale production of immersive and expressive Visual Reality (VR) scenes has been driven, and it is used to enhance teaching concentration due to its immersive nature. In the mindfulness meditation therapy of VR technology, some meditation images used are not accurate enough and not combined with the real environment, so the user experience is not high.

Employing a comparative research design, this study assessed the efficacy of personalized virtual relaxation environments in promoting psychological tranquility and alleviating stress. The user study with 16 participants compared control and experimental groups undergoing a VR relaxation experience. The findings revealed significant differences, with the group experiencing the virtual meditation spaces exhibiting more positive emotional states. This study highlights the importance of tailoring virtual spaces to individual preferences to optimize the healing benefits.

Meditation has been strongly linked to improved mental health, including reduced stress and anxiety, improved emotion regulation, and increased overall well-being. Long-term meditators experience positive changes in brain structure and function that may contribute to improved cognitive function and emotional stability. Meanwhile, there is growing recognition of the key role of the natural environment in mental health and well-being. While this evidence suggests that mindfulness-based interventions have significant benefits for mental health and well-being, few studies have combined mindfulness with restorative experiences, such as exposure to nature. However, we found that there are many VR meditation systems on the market, but many of them are stuck in a fixed environment and the playback of mindfulness meditation content has been set. Long-term use may have a habituation effect. For example, if you listen to the same meditation audio every day, your brain may become "accustomed" to the sounds, reducing the sensitivity and effectiveness of your meditation practice. We develop targeted VR meditation content by understanding users' personal preferences and needs. Our aim is to create a virtual environment that aligns with their psychological demands and imaginative space, guiding them to experience deeper self-exploration and spiritual healing.
